On a Knife Edge: Why Women’s Futures in Hospitality Matter

Join the official launch of a new 10-point pledge for women in hospitality at HRC 2026

“We are a group of 70 female chefs and hospitality workers, and we need you to know that we are tired.”

In response to an open letter signed by 70 female chefs and hospitality professionals, a new 10-point pledge has been developed setting out clear, practical commitments to improve working conditions, progression and representation for women across the sector. Led by Sally Abé, the open letter was backed by respected industry figures including Anna Haugh, Chantelle Nicholson, Joké Bakare, Pip Lacey and Selin Kiazim. The pledge will be officially launched at HRC 2026.

Following a panel session on the Vision Stage (16:00–16:45), invited guests are welcomed to an exclusive drinks reception from 17:00–18:00 to mark the launch of the pledge, continue conversations from the session and be among the first to add their signature. This is an invite-only event.

If a restaurant cannot produce intricate, haute cuisine without abusing or exploiting its staff, it raises the question: should it exist at all?
