For Students, Colleges and Training Providers

HRC welcomes student visitors and recognises their importance to the future of the hospitality industry. To maintain a professional, safe and productive environment, all students and group leaders must follow the requirements below. Failure to do so may result in removal from the event and future restrictions for individuals or groups.

Dress Code

All students must be dressed appropriately for a professional trade event.
Approved attire includes:
• Business or smart-casual clothing
• Chef whites for culinary students

Students who arrive in unsuitable clothing may be denied entry.

Purpose of Attendance

HRC is a business and learning environment. Students are expected to attend with a clear educational or professional purpose, including:
• Exploring industry developments
• Networking with exhibitors and industry representatives
• Attending talks, demonstrations and educational content

Visitors attending without a genuine learning or professional intention may be asked to leave.

Required Behaviour

All students must conduct themselves in a manner that reflects professionalism. This includes:
• Speaking to exhibitors respectfully and recognising that exhibitors are present primarily for business – only taking samples when explicitly offered
• Participating responsibly in sessions and demonstrations
• Moving through the halls responsibly and without obstructing aisles
• Avoiding large group gatherings that block stands or walkways
• Not occupying public seating areas for extended periods

Behaviour that disrupts business activity or impacts other visitors will not be tolerated.

Alcohol and Sampling

• Under-18s are strictly forbidden from attempting to drink alcohol
• Sampling is only permitted where explicitly offered and appropriate
• Free items must not be taken unless clearly provided by exhibitors

Any breach of alcohol rules will result in immediate action and may lead to removal from the event.

Professional Conduct and Consequences

Students represent their institution and the wider industry. Exhibitors have reported concerns around unprofessional behaviour in previous years.
Conduct that is inappropriate, disruptive or damaging to the event’s reputation may result in:
• Removal from HRC
• Refusal of entry for the remainder of the event
• Restrictions or bans for individuals or entire student groups at future editions

Requirements for Colleges, Tutors and Group Leaders

• All students must be fully briefed before arrival
• Tutors or group leaders must provide adequate supervision throughout the visit
• Colleges are expected to support HRC staff in managing any issues involving their students
