Master Butcher Richard (Richie) Sanders is a leading authority in the global meat industry and the current UK & Europe Country Manager for Meat & Livestock Australia (MLA). With over 30 years of experience, Richard’s career began in his native New Zealand, where he opened his own butchery at age 20 and was named New Zealand Butcher of the Year in 2003.
His extensive background spans hands-on butchery, international trade, and education, having served as a Meat Lecturer in Papua New Guinea and a Group Meat Specialist for Classic Fine Foods in the UK. Today, he is a prominent advocate for Australian red meat, frequently leading butchery masterclasses and demonstrations that showcase the quality and versatility of Aussie beef, lamb, and goat. Known as "The Meat Maester," Richard is also a regular panel judge for the World Steak Challenge, where he applies his deep technical knowledge to evaluate the world’s best cuts.
