HRC to take part in Walk for Wellbeing in aid of Hospitality Action

This October, the HRC team, along with colleagues from our sister event Independent Hotel Show, will be lacing up our walking shoes and joining hospitality colleagues from across the country for Walk for Wellbeing 2025. Since it first began in 2020, this nationwide event has brought together thousands of people from every corner of the industry and raised more than £340,000 for Hospitality Action, the charity that provides crucial support for those facing hardship.

The idea is simple but powerful: come together, take part in an accessible walk, and use the time to focus on wellbeing while raising funds for an organisation that is there for our industry when we need it most. Mental health issues, the cost-of-living crisis and fears around homelessness continue to place pressure on many hospitality workers, and every step taken during Walk for Wellbeing helps Hospitality Action deliver counselling sessions, provide emergency grants, and put food on the table for families in need.
For us at HRC, it’s also about community. Walk for Wellbeing is a reminder that wellbeing is not an individual concern but something we can all support together. Whether you choose to take part as a workplace team, walk with family and friends, or go it alone, the event creates a sense of shared purpose. Teams often find it helps strengthen relationships and brings colleagues closer, while individuals enjoy the chance to challenge themselves and spend time outdoors with a goal that benefits others.
This year’s London walk takes place on Sunday 19 October, with registration from 9.30am and a 10.30am start. The route is a 20km loop around Battersea Park, beginning and ending at the Victorian Bandstand. It’s a significant distance but one that’s open to everyone with the right preparation: comfortable shoes, water, snacks and a weatherproof jacket are all recommended. At the finish line, walkers will gather back at the Bandstand to celebrate the achievement together and raise a well-earned toast.
What makes Walk for Wellbeing special is that it’s not just about fundraising, though the money raised is essential. It’s about taking time to focus on health, connection and community, and showing solidarity with an industry that thrives on people. It’s an accessible way to contribute to a cause that resonates across every part of hospitality, while also giving yourself and your team a chance to recharge.
We’re proud to be supporting Walk for Wellbeing again this year and would encourage others across the industry to do the same. Registration is quick and straightforward, and once you’re signed up you’ll receive your own fundraising page along with resources to help make the most of the event.
Let’s walk the walk together this October, and make a positive difference for hospitality people everywhere.
