British Food Fortnight: Celebrating British produce on hospitality menus
British Food Fortnight returns from 26 September to 11 October 2026, marking 25 years of celebrating the farmers, producers and businesses behind Britain’s food and drink industry.
Organised by Love British Food, the annual campaign brings together organisations across hospitality, foodservice, retail, education, healthcare and local communities. This year’s call to action, “Make British your first choice”, encourages businesses and consumers to support domestic producers and strengthen British supply chains.
The anniversary comes at a time when food security, supply chain resilience and the future of British farming are firmly on the national agenda. Hospitality operators and caterers are simultaneously managing cost pressures, changing customer expectations and growing demand for more transparent sourcing.
British Food Fortnight provides an opportunity for the sector to celebrate existing supplier relationships, explore new products and consider the role British sourcing can play in the future of professional foodservice.
Supporting British food across hospitality
Love British Food is encouraging hospitality and catering businesses to support the fortnight by featuring seasonal British ingredients, highlighting local suppliers, hosting tastings and sharing their sourcing stories.
For operators, the campaign provides a timely opportunity to examine how British produce can contribute to menus, procurement strategies and customer communications. This could include working with suppliers to identify seasonal availability, introducing limited-time dishes or using the fortnight to showcase existing relationships with British farmers and manufacturers.
British sourcing can support wider business priorities, including shorter and more transparent supply chains, distinctive regional menus and closer collaboration between chefs, procurement teams and producers. Purchasing decisions will, however, still need to balance provenance with price, consistency, availability and the volumes required by professional kitchens.
The campaign is relevant across restaurants, pubs, hotels, contract catering and the public sector. Large-scale caterers have the potential to support British producers through consistent purchasing volumes, while independent operators can use regional products to create menus with a stronger sense of place.
Love British Food also encourages businesses to use the fortnight to help customers understand where their food comes from. Clear information about farms, producers and regional ingredients can give greater meaning to sourcing claims and demonstrate the relationships behind a menu.
Campaign guidance and resources for hospitality businesses, caterers and public sector organisations are available through the Love British Food website.
British suppliers heading to HRC 2027
Operators looking to expand their use of British products will be able to meet producers and suppliers from across the country at HRC 2027.
Confirmed exhibitors include St. Ewe Free Range Eggs, a family-run producer based in Cornwall. The business works with British family farmers and places hen welfare, nutrition and responsible farming at the heart of its approach.
The Bury Black Pudding Company will represent one of Britain’s best-known regional food traditions. The business grew from a stall on Bury Market and continues to produce its black pudding in the town for hospitality, retail and international customers.
Dorset-based Purbeck Ice Cream produces real dairy ice cream using fresh local milk, Dorset cream and natural flavours. Its range demonstrates how regional provenance can provide a meaningful point of difference for hospitality menus.
Also exhibiting is Dark Woods Coffee, an award-winning speciality coffee roaster based in West Yorkshire. In addition to supplying hospitality businesses, the company provides training and support for its wholesale customers.
Foodservice supplier Essential Cuisine will showcase its range of British-made stocks, sauces and culinary ingredients developed for professional kitchens.
Together, these exhibitors reflect the breadth of British food and drink available to hospitality businesses, from farmed ingredients and regional specialities to products developed specifically for the operational demands of commercial kitchens.
British Food Fortnight is an opportunity to recognise the role hospitality and catering businesses play in supporting domestic food production. By maintaining strong supplier relationships and giving British producers a visible place on menus, operators can help ensure that interest in British food extends beyond the fortnight itself.
