International Salon Culinaire is regarded as one of the world’s top competitions for chefs. Hosted live at HRC, the Salon Culinaire competitions are open for chefs of all levels from talented young students training at college, to those who are well established on their culinary career journey. I only discovered the joy of competing in the Salon Culinaire in 2018. I love that it introduced me to a new culinary creative medium. It’s a challenge; Salon Culinaire makes you strive for your perfect plate of food, showcasing the best of your ability...

I enter the competitions for the love of our craft and to encourage younger members who have never been on that stage to get involved, compete, and meet other competitors, allowing them to see what others are doing in the industry.

I cannot urge all chefs, not just young chefs, enough to get involved in the Salon Culinaire - competing in Salon Culinaire gives the direct line into some of the country’s best chefs with praise and feedback given to you face to face.

Taking part in such a showcase event was daunting and at the same time exhilarating. The Hospital Chef Competition was a perfect opportunity to highlight the skills that we have in healthcare catering, and a great way to meet with other catering teams.
