Chef Proprietor, The Angel at Hetton
Michael Wignall is the chef patron of one Michelin-starred The Angel at Hetton. Prior to buying the Angel in 2018, Michael worked with some of the top chefs in the industry, including Marco Pierre White, Paul Heathcote and John Burton-Race. In the early 2000s, he retained a Michelin star and 4-AA Rosettes for five years as the executive chef at The Devonshire Arms in North Yorkshire;  he then went onto The Latymer at Pennyhill Park, where he retained the restaurant’s two stars and earned 5 AA-Rosettes.In 2016, Michael replaced Michael Caines as executive chef at Gidleigh Park, held onto the restaurant's two Michelin stars, and, in January 2017,  was awarded 5 AA Rosettes.In 2018, Michael took on his first solo venture with The Angel at Hetton, which was awarded four rosettes in the AA Restaurant Guide 2020 and one star in the Michelin Guide for Great Britain and Ireland 2020.
