Candice Brown
Candice Brown is a baker, pub landlady, cookbook author, charity campaigner and event host. Winner of The Great British Bake Off, Candice was born in North London and grew up in the pubs that her parents ran – and that she famously immortalised in gingerbread for her most talked about showstopper. Taught to bake by her beloved Nan, Candice strives to emulate her style, often referring back to her treasured recipe book and hand-written notes. Candice loves everything vintage and her sense of style certainly captured Great British Bake Off viewers’ attention.
In her life before Bake Off, Candice was a secondary school teacher with a particular responsibility for the pastoral care and SEN provision within the school. Life changed immeasurably for Candice following her victory on Bake Off with the recognition that she gained on the show giving her the opportunity to explore new and exciting avenues in food. In the years since the show she has been a columnist for The Sunday Times, writing in the magazine and The Dish, has baked on This Morning and Ainsley's World Cup Flavours and has appeared as a panellist on Loose Women.
She has worked with a vast array of brands on PR and social media campaigns including Breville, Gozney, Canderel, Holland and Barrett, and Now TV. She has been featured in Hello and OK! magazine and has been an ambassador for Avon Cosmetics. She is also a regular at food festivals making frequent appearances at Pub in the Park, CarFest and The Big Feastival.
In December 2018 Candice, together with her brother Ben, took on one of her biggest challenges to date when she took the keys to The Greenman Pub in Eversholt. After a full refurbishment and menu overhaul, they opened to great reviews and excitement of the local community in February 2019. The pub continues to go from strength to strength and Candice can regularly be found creating new recipes in the kitchen, pulling pints behind the bar…or waiting tables.
